Favourite Podcasts

I'm not a heavy music listener, but I am a heavy podcast listener. These are the podcasts that I consistently follow, within the categories of theology/spirituality and technology.

Theology/Spirituality

Pastor Greg Boyd preaching at Woodland Hills ChurchI consistently follow four podcasts in this category. Two are from The Meeting House chain of churches across Ontario (main site is in Oakville). I have been following the main teaching since 2007, and at that point I also went back and listened to pretty much everything else available from them. I also listen to the RoundTable which are less structured conversations of people in the leadership of the Meeting House, and often features guests as well. Both RSS feeds are available from The Meeting House Teaching page (bottom of the page) or you can select individual teachings to listen to. The main teachings are also available in video.

Another church that I follow is Woodland Hills Church in Minnesota. If you are a follower of my Musings of an Urban Mennonite blog, you will have seen me reference Greg Boyd quite a few times. This is his church where he is the primary teaching pastor. As far as I've been able to tell, it is a nondenominational evangelical church, but they have a lot of radical Anabaptist-like themes. A couple of Boyd's books also appear on my Recommended Books list.

Technology

Crackberry.com LogoIn the area of technology, I listen to three main podcasts consistently. Two are related to my love of BlackBerry: the Crackberry podcast and the Mobile Nations podcast. Mobile Nations is a network of sites each devoted to the main 5 mobile operating systems - including the now-discontinued WebOS. Every second Friday at least three people representing their respective "mobile nation" come together to talk about the big news in mobile. So far the big three of BlackBerry, iOS, and Android have been on every show, with the representatives from Windows Phone and WebOS being less frequent visitors. Related to this is the CrackBerry podcast, which has a team of usually up to 5 guys who discuss the major news in the world of BlackBerry. They don't operate on a consistent schedule as Mobile Nations does, but rather record as they feel necessary after big news.

Lastly, I follow a podcast which combines the church and technology: Church Tech Arts. They cover basically any type of technology and how it impacts the church: video, audio, projection, etc.
